ELRP is a voluntary program designed to enhance California’s electric grid resilience by helping grid operators manage demand during peak usage or emergencies. It’s a way to avoid rotating outages while minimizing costs to ratepayers associated with building additional standby resources.

What can cause an Electrical Grid Emergency?

An electrical grid emergency can happen at any time despite careful planning for sufficient electricity supply and electric grid transmission and distribution infrastructure.

Common reasons for grid emergencies are when extremely hot weather drives up electricity use in summer, making the available power supply scarce. This usually happens in the early evening hours when consumers return home and switch on air conditioners, lights, and appliances.

Severe fires, earthquakes and heat storms also threaten and affect transmission lines, causing unplanned power plant outages and grid emergencies.

How South Bay Ford is Making EV Ownership Easier

All Ford EV owners have access to the largest public charging network in North America with no annual fee^[1].

Qmerit & Mustang Mach-E

You may think any electrician can install your charging equipment, but electric vehicle charging differs from other appliances in your house.

Adding a 240-volt outlet in your garage may seem simple. However, unlike appliances like your electric clothes dryer or electric kitchen range you use a couple of times a week for a few hours, you’ll probably charge your Mustang overnight, night after night. Not all electrical equipment is made to handle EV charging, and many electrical contractors aren’t up to speed on the EV charging industry.

That’s where Qmerit comes in because they specialize in electric vehicle charging equipment. Qmerit has a network of Qmerit-certified and licensed electrical contractors. Many of these contractors have been operating in your neighborhood already, but Qmerit vets and conducts background checks on them. Get Charged Up

Every Mustang Mack-E comes standard with the Ford mobile charger, so you’re always within a charge when you need it. The charger is stored under the carpeted panel in the rear cargo area. It includes two connectors, one that plugs into a 120-volt outlet and the other for a 240-volt outlet.

The design of the charge port is a great feature. It’s located in front of the driver’s side door. Press on the center-right edge to unlatch it. When you open the charge port door, a helpful light above the port illuminates to help you plug in the charge cord.

With some other cars, it’s hard to see the progress of charging, but the Mustang Mach-E has a charge status indicator light to the right of the charge port that shows you the charging status. It’s a light ring with five zones; each zone represents 20% charge status.

The light pulses to indicate the zone that is in the process of charging. When all five zones are lit, the charge is at 100%. You can also check the battery charge status in the cluster on your interior sync screen and on the FordPass app.

Performance

The Ford Ranger is the only mid-size truck that’s built Ford Tough. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine has power to spare, pumping out 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. And thanks to the standard 10-speed automatic transmission and the auto start/stop technology, it’s possible to get up to 26 miles per gallon.

The fully-independent double A-arm front suspension uses nitrogen-pressurized shocks to keep you comfortable and in control. The Terrain Management System, with four selectable drive modes, allows the Ranger to adapt to new road conditions. Two-wheel drive is standard, and electronic shift-on-the-fly 4×4 is optional.

• Engine options: The redesigned 2024 Ford Ranger comes with the 2.3L turbocharged engine in its base trim, the same as the 2023 model. However, you can now upgrade to a new 2.7L turbocharged V6 engine that cranks up to 315 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.
• Infotainment: The 2023 standard 8-inch touchscreen size is gone. The 2024 new infotainment system has two touchscreen options: 10.1 or an upgraded 12-inch display with the latest Sync 4A system, similar to what you find in the electric Mustang Mach E and F-150 Lightning. The 2024 also has two USB-A and two USB-C ports.
• Off-roading: The 2024 Ranger provides more ground clearance for more off-roading opportunities. You will be thrilled with the Ranger’s terrain management system that adapts to ground conditions. It can adjust power delivery, torque bias, and more. For example, if you’re barreling through some snow, sand or mud, it will adjust the truck appropriately.
• Design elements: The 2024 Ford Ranger looks more aggressive and sturdier. It is also wider and offers more passenger space since the SuperCrew cab is standard. From the freshly designed grill to the many interior upgrades, you will love all the work that went into making this dream truck.
